Put the sifted flour, yeast diluted in a little water, the sugar and salt in a bowl.
Add about 1 cup (250 ml) warm water and stir thoroughly. Cover this mixture with transparent foil and put it in the fridge for 6-7 hours, then take it out.
Use a large, oiled spoon to scoop from the thick dough and put the spoonfuls in heated butter.
Fry the mekitsi on both sides and take them out onto paper towels, to drain them from the butter.
Serve them with powdered sugar.
