Ingredients

  • mince - 21 oz (600 g), mixture
  • black pepper - to taste
  • onions - 1 head
  • breadcrumbs - 1 tbsp
  • eggs - 1
  • olive oil - 1 tbsp
  • for the sauce
  • tomatoes - 2 4/5 cups (680 g), canned
  • tomato paste - 1 tbsp
  • paprika - 1 tsp, smoked
  • onions - 2 heads
  • olive oil - 2 tbsp
  • bay leaf - 2
  • thyme - 1 pinch
  • garlic - 2 cloves
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • peppers - 1
  • parsley - several bunches
  • salt
  • basil - 1 pinch

How to cook

Knead the mince, mix it with the spices, add breadcrumbs, an egg and finely chopped onions.

Make meatballs roughly the same size, smear an oven dish with olive oil and arrange them in it.

Put it in a preheated 390°F (200 °C) oven to bake, while also turning the meatballs from all sides so they turn golden - about 20-25 min.

In the meantime, make the sauce: cut the onions and pepper finely, pour olive oil in a pot and braise until golden.

Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, finely chopped garlic and all of the spices. Put in a tsp of sugar to kill the sourness of the tomatoes, salt them and boil until the sauce thickens a little.

Take the oven dish with the meatballs out, pour the resulting sauce over them and return to the oven for another 10 min. Take it out, serve and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
