Beat the eggs with the sugar until whitened. Sift the flour, cocoa and baking powder and add them to the eggs.
Pour the butter in a thin trickle while stirring nonstop. Grate a little orange rind, stir and bake in a cake form.
To make the cream, heat the milk, add the sugar and beaten eggs (before the milk comes to a boil). Dilute the flour with a little water and add it to the milk with 1 vanilla. Boil until it thickens.
Cut the baked layer through the middle, resulting in 2 layers, syrup one with the juice from the compote, then smear it with the cooled cream, place the other cake layer on top, syrup once again and smear with cream.
Pour ground walnuts and chocolate sprinkles generously over the cake.
