"This is our family`s favorite pie and is so easy to make."

Ingredients

  • puff pastry - 7 oz (200 g)
  • pumpkins - 2 cups
  • sugar - 3 tbsp
  • brown sugar - 1 tbsp
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • almonds - 15
  • eggs - 1 yolk, for smearing
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling

How to cook

Peel the pumpkin and cut it into pieces, boil it in a little water until ready and strain well. Mash it in a bowl with a fork and flavor with the cinnamon and sugar. Add half the finely ground almonds and stir everything well.

Thaw the puff pastry and cut it to match the size of the oven dish in which you're going to be baking. Place it along the bottom of the oven dish, raise the edges a bit to create a border. Smear it with the pumpkin filling.

From the puff pastry cuttings form strips and arrange them in a grid pattern on top of the pie. Smear it with beaten yolk, sprinkle with brown sugar and arrange whole almonds on the actual strips.

Bake in a preheated 390°F (200 °C) oven for 20-25 min. until reddened. Take it out and once cooled, sprinkle it with powdered sugar!
