Mix all the ingredients for the marinade together. Put the steaks in it. Put them in the fridge for 30 min.
Braise them on both sides in a little oil. Arrange them in an oven dish. In the same oil, saute the onions and garlic.
Add the peppers, eggplant (soaked in salted water beforehand) and finally the mushrooms. Add the spices and pour the mixture over the steaks.
Pour the wine and water into the oven dish. Cover with foil and bake at 356°F (180 °C) about 40 min. Toward the end of baking, remove the foil and finish baking.
