Cut the ginger root into small pieces and put them at the bottom of a pitcher.
Add the washed and cut into pieces lemon. Pour in 4 1/5 cups (1 L) boiling water. After it sits about 5-10 min., flavor it with honey to taste and leave it for 15-20 min. before straining it.
While hot, it's perfect for the cold winter days but you can also serve it cooled.
