Macedonian-Style Fried Toast
- baguettes - 17.5 oz (500 g)
- milk - 1 cup (250 ml)
- eggs - 3
- flour - 1 tbsp
- salt - 1 pinch
- sugar - 1 tbsp
- powdered sugar - for sprinkling
- butter - 1/5 cup (60 g), for frying
- oil - 1/3 cup (80 ml)
Cut the baguettes into slices of the same size. Dilute the flour in a little of the milk. Beat the eggs, salt and sugar together and while stirring, add them to the flour.
Dip the baguette slices briefly in the milk and then in the egg mixture. Fry them in the heated together butter and oil to a golden brown.
Sprinkle the ready fried toast with powdered sugar.
