  • phyllo pastry - 14 oz (400 g), sheets
  • walnuts - 1 cup
  • oil - 2/3 cup (150 ml)
  • syrup
  • water - 3 1/3 cups (800 ml)
  • sugar - 2 cups (500 g)
  • vanilla - 3


Grind the walnuts. Smear the bottom of an oven dish with oil, put a phyllo pastry sheet in it, sprinkle with a little oil and put the 2nd sheet, continue until you've used up half the sheets.

Distribute the ground walnuts and a little oil evenly. Continue stacking the rest of the sheets, with oil between them.

Bake in a low oven at 302°F (150 °C) until reddened. Then take the oven dish out and leave it to cool. Next, prepare the syrup.

Pour the water, sugar and 3 packets of vanilla in a pot. Stir and put the pot on the stove. The water needs to come to a boil.

Then turn the stove off and leave the syrup for 2-3 min. to settle. Pour it over the cooled baklava. Leave it to sit for 24 hours before serving.find similar recipes here
