Boil the syrup for the dessert. It needs to cool while you get to work on the dough.
Beat the butter and sugar in a bowl. Add the eggs but set aside 1 yolk for smearing the balls later.
Add the semolina, along with the vanilla and baking powder. Beat again with the mixer for several min. Pour in the sifted flour and knead a dough. Make balls the size of a walnut. Arrange them in a pre-greased tray and flatten them just a little.
Place 1 nut onto each dough ball. Smear with egg yolk. Put to bake in a 356°F (180 °C) oven. Take them out once they gain a golden color and pour the cooled syrup over them.
