Wash the chestnuts, make a slight cut on them on top with a sharp knife. Put them in a pot, pour on water to cover them - the water level needs to be 3 finger widths above the chestnuts.
Leave the chestnuts to boil about 30 min. Then take them out and peel. Pour the heated butter over them and sprinkle with the spices.
Notes: When cutting the chestnuts with a knife, be very careful, as they are quite slippery.
