  • flour - 3 1/3 cups (800 g)
  • salt - 1 tbsp
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • yeast - 1 cube
  • water - 2 1/2 cups (600 ml) cool
  • breadcrumbs - for sprinkling


Dissolve the yeast in the cool water.

Sift the flour in a deep bowl. Add the salt and sugar. Pour in the effervescent yeast with the liquid. Stir energetically until you get a homogeneous mass.

This dough is a bit different than your standard one - it's sticky. Lay out a deep baking dish with baking paper. Pour the dough in it.

Leave the dough in a warm area to rise. Sprinkle the top with some breadcrumbs.

Put the risen pita in a preheated 356°F (180 °C) oven. Bake the pita to a brown crisp.

During baking, you can increase or decrease the temperature, depending on what you need to finish baking.
