  • yoghurt - 1 cup
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • ammonium bicarbonate - 1 packet
  • lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • eggs - 3
  • sugar - 1 1/2 teaspoon crystalline
  • lard - 1 cup, at room temperature
  • lemon flakes - 1 tsp (or grated rind of a fresh lemon)
  • vanilla - 2 powder packets
  • flour - 4 cups
  • brown sugar - 1 cup, for rolling in
  • stuffing
  • turkish delight
  • walnuts
  • cherries

How to cook

Extinguish the baking soda, ammonium bicarbonate and lemon juice in the yoghurt. Add this mixture to a well in the sifted flour. Beat the eggs with the sugar using a fork and add them to the flour.

Add the other ingredients - the lard at room temperature, vanilla and lemon flakes. Stir well and knead a soft and smooth dough.

Tear balls the size of a small walnut from the dough. Flatten them between your palms and in the middle, put a cube of Turkish delight, a cherry from a jam or walnut, as desired. Cover with the dough and form it into a round, smooth ball.

Roll the balls in brown sugar and arrange them in a tray onto baking paper, with some space in between them.

Bake in a preheated 392°F (200 °C) oven with the fan on until reddened.
