Pour 8 1/3 cups (2 L) of water and the beans in a pot. Put on the stove and boil about 20 min. Pour out the water, pour in new water, boil another 10 min., pour it out again.
Then pour in 10 2/5 cups (2.5 L) water to the pot and put it to boil. In the meantime, clean and chop the onions, carrot and pepper finely.
Once the beans soften a bit, add the copped vegetables. Season with salt and the oil. After the veggies boil, add the can of tomatoes and boil another 5-10 min.
Remove from the stove and season with black pepper, savory, spearmint and parsley.
