"Tradition calls for there always to be a lean loaf present at the table on Christmas Eve and we`ll show you how to prepare the tastiest one possible."

Ingredients

  • yeast - 1 packet, dry
  • water - 1 2/3 cups (400 ml) cool
  • oil - 3 tablespoons
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 cups (700 g)
  • seeds - for sprinkling

How to cook

Knead a soft dough from all the products excluding the seeds. Divide it into 2 parts - 1 slightly larger than the other.

Shape the larger part into a pita and put it in the middle of a well greased tray. Divide the smaller dough piece into 3 parts, 1 will be for decoration.

Shape the other 2 into wicks and twist them. Arrange them around the circumference of the pita. Shape the final piece of dough into grapes, crosses, a sun or whatever you like.

Smear the pita with oil and sprinkle with seeds. Bake in a moderate oven about 40 min. Smear the ready pity with a little butter.
