Chop the cleaned pumpkin into small cubes.
Heat oil and fry the crushed onions and diced bacon until lightly brown.
Add the pumpkin, hot water and the chicken stock. Wait for it to boil and lower the heat.
Allow the soup to simmer under cover for 30 minutes. Leave it to cool and then mix together with the cream.
Warm the Australian pumpkin soup a little before serving.
