Soak the lentils in water for 1 hour. Pour it into a saucepan with 3 cups water, finely chopped tomatoes, onions and stir in turmeric and salt.
Let it boil while you stir and put a lid on. Allow to boil until the mixture becomes a paste.
Heat the oil in a pan and fry the cumin until it sizzles. Add the crushed garlic and fry until golden.
Add this mix to the boiled lentil porridge. Stir well and add the Garam Masala.
Pour into bowls and garnish with dry chilli and coriander leaves.
