First make the syrup from the sugar, water and lemon juice. Leave it to cool.
Melt the butter in the container in which you'll be baking. Rub the kadaif between your palms to get air in between the individual shreds.
Distribute 1/2 of it over the melted butter, while pressing on it to take in the butter flavor. Tear the mozzarella into strings and distribute on top.
Cover with the remaining kadaif. Press lightly and bake in a moderately preheated oven for about 30 min. to a golden-brown color.
Pour the cold syrup over it. Smother for a few min. until the syrup is completely absorbed. Serve hot, sprinkled with ground nuts.
