Greek Cake Baklava
- eggs - 4
- sugar - 1 1/2 cups
- flour - 1 1/2 cups (can substitute 1/2 cup with flax and einkorn flour, 2 tbsp each)
- oil - 1 cup
- baking powder - 1
- vanilla - 1 packet
- walnuts - 1 cup, ground
- phyllo pastry - 1 packet, sheets
- water - 4 cups
- sugar - 3 cups
Mix the eggs with the sugar in a bowl. Add the flour sifted with baking powder (can substitute with 1 tsp baking soda). Add the vanilla at the end.
Put 2-3 phyllo pastry sheets in a tray. Pour the filling on top.
Distribute the remaining phyllo pastry sheets, cut into strips, on top. Pour on the heated oil and bake in a preheated oven.
Once cooled, pour the hot syrup on top.
